BUFFALO, N.Y. - For extended periods of time in the early stages of the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship, Jack Campbell has looked like the Maytag repairman in net for Team USA.

As his teammates have been storming the offensive zone and pounding pucks at opposing goaltenders to the tune of 105 shots on goal over the past two preliminary round games, Campbell has waited patiently for the occasional piece of rubber to fly his way.

Against Germany, the 18-year-old Port Huron, Mich., native saw 14 shots come his way, steering aside each one with relative ease. But with his seventh career shutout in international competition less than 10 minutes away, Campbell surrendered his crease, gladly gave way to his friend and teammate Andy Iles to seal the deal.

“We wanted to give Andy a chance,” said Campbell, who earned the directorate award as the top goaltender while leading the U.S. to the gold medal at last year’s World Junior Championship.
