USA Hockey announced that the Buffalo Sabres will host the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship December 26, 2010 – January 6, 2011 at HSBC Arena, Buffalo, NY and Dwyer Arena, on the Niagara University campus. The 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship is only the 4th ever World Junior Championship to be held in the US and the 1st ever to be played in Buffalo.

What is the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championships?
The 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship is an annual event organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation for national under-20 ice hockey teams from around the world. This is only the 4th ever World Junior Championship to be played in the US and 1st ever to be played in Buffalo. Currently 24 players in the Buffalo Sabres organization participated in the World Juniors including: Maxim Afinogenov (RUS), Tim Connolly (USA), Jochen Hecht (GER), Toni Lydman (FIN), Adam Mair (CAN), Teppo Numminen (FIN), Daniel Paille (CAN), Derek Roy (CAN), Andrej Sekera (SK), Jaroslav Spacek (CZ) Drew Stafford (USA), Henrik Tallinder (SWE), and Thomas Vanek (AU).

When is the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship?
The 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship is scheduled to take place on or near December 26, 2010 – January 6, 2011 at HSBC Arena and Dwyer Arena on the Campus of Niagara University (Actual schedule to be announced at a later date.) A total of 31 games will be played (17 @ HSBC Arena, 14 @ Dwyer Arena) featuring the top 10 hockey playing nations competing for the gold medal.

When will the schedule and teams that are participating be announced?
The participating nations and schedule will be announced approximately six months from the event date, so anticipate a summer of 2010 announcement. Some of the participating countries will include USA, Canada, Russia, Czech Republic, Sweden, Finland, Slovakia, and Germany.

When do tickets go on-sale?
Information is currently being sent out to all Sabres season ticket holders and mini-pack holders informing them as to the ticket package options available to them. Ticket priority will be given to these fans first followed by a general public on-sale to take place late November or early December 2008. The actual date of the on-sale will be announced at a later time. Those fans interested in purchasing tickets can go to www.BuffaloWorldJuniors.com and purchase a $200 non-refundable seat reservation that will give them the priority opportunity to buy tickets before the general on-sale should ticket packages be available. A seat reservation does not guarantee seats and the $200 deposits will be returned if seats are not available.

I am currently a Sabres season ticket holder. Will I have tickets to the games?
The Buffalo Sabres are pleased to be able to offer current season ticket holders, based on availability, the right to purchase tickets for the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship. Season ticket holders will be given the first opportunity to purchase seats for this event, as well as any additional tickets, based upon availability. Seating locations and additional ticket purchases may be subject to limitations or restrictions as set forth by USA Hockey.

As a season ticket holder, will I be able to keep my same seats for the World Juniors?
When possible we will try to keep your same seat location for all World Junior games played at HSBC Arena if you so choose. Because seating is limited at Dwyer Arena exact seating cannot be guaranteed at this time.

I am currently a Sabres mini-pack holder. Will I have tickets to the games?
The Buffalo Sabres are please to be able to offer current mini-pack holders, based on availability, the right to purchase tickets for the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship. In addition we will also be extending the opportunity for mini-pack holders to purchase additional ticket packages, again, based upon availability. Seating locations and ticket purchases may be subject to limitations or restrictions as set forth by USA Hockey.

I am a HSBC Arena Suite Holder. Is this an included HSBC Arena event? If not, will I have the opportunity to purchase tickets.
All suite holders will have the opportunity to purchase their suite for the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship. Information with regards to pricing and package options will be forthcoming with all suite orders filled and confirmed in the fall of 2010.

How are tickets being sold for the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship?
Tickets to the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship are currently being sold in packages that include: Gold Package (all 31 games at all venues), a Silver Package (17 games played at HSBC Arena w/ lower bowl seating) and a Bronze Package (17 games played at HSBC Arena w/ upper bowl seating.) No individual game tickets are on sale at this time.

How much are individual game tickets for the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship?
At this time, individual game tickets are not for sale and there is no guarantee that they will go on sale depending upon the total number of ticket packages sold. If at a later date tickets are available pricing information will be released.

There are no group ticket discounts available for 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship. Those interested in purchasing group tickets are advised to complete the seat registration form available at www.BuffaloWorldJuniors.com or contact the HSBC Arena Customer Service Office at 1-888-467-2273.
